ABOUT THE ARTIST

Stephen “Steve” Arnett Groves (1971-2017)

An extraordinary artist in multiple fields, Steve focused primarily on cartooning. He showed his artistic talent from an early age and doodled on any scrap of paper he could lay his hands on for the rest of his life.

Growing up on the family farm and attending school in the small town of Souris, MB provided Steve with a great deal of material that would appear in his cartoons. After graduating from high school, he worked a variety of jobs and attended Brandon University and the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary. Steve finally settled in Brandon and freelanced as a graphic artist and illustrator. All the while, he continued his passion for writing and drawing his original comics.

In mid-2017, Steve was diagnosed with cancer. He faced his illness bravely, seeing it as a turning point in his life, rather than a dead end. Unfortunately, Steve lost his battle, passing away on October 19, 2017 at the Souris Health Centre.
